• Here, no luxury! This adventure takes you into the "real" Mongolia. You will sleep in traditional yurts with nomadic breeders: yurts will have an infinite charm, an exceptional natural environment... But comfort concerning (more comfortable nights are planned in the capital and in Olgii). Also, it is not a legend: Mongolia is large (very large) and wild : the journeys are an adventure in themselves, the distances to be travelled are sometimes important, fortunately what scrolls to the window is always up to the height. You will sometimes have to travel relatively committed environments (altitude, mountain) but always safely.

They make it a point of honour to find authentic families ready to welcome small numbers of travellers, not tourist camps or nomads living almost exclusively from tourism (it was the first thing we liked about them!). • What about hygiene? You'll have to set aside some habits, but don't panic! Plan body wipes during nights at home, knowing that Munkhe always plans a few nights with access to showers on its routes.

• All meals included on this trip. Attention: Mongolia - even if it tends to evolve - is not the dream country for vegetarians... Meat and dairy products are the basic food for nomadic families. As a result, it is difficult to a meatless meal (The traditional Mongols dishes revolve around sheep and beef.) Solutions vegetarian may be proposed, but often it is « to remove meat » a dish. However, in the city, many restaurants are beginning to adapt their offer, there are even some new vegetarian restaurants and some families are beginning to offer meatless dishes.

• Mongolia is a great plateau wheremedium altitude It's around 1,500 feet, you knew it? The country is mostly flat, it is in Altai that the highest peaks culminate. Be ready for some crossing points that will exceed the 3,000 m and nights around 2,000m.
• Because of its topography, nights in Altai may be cold at that time of the year (0° or less). Good warm clothes and a waterproof are highly recommended.

• From the exit of cities and major axes, the Internet network is random, see non-existent (normal, in view of the vastness and wildness of the country!). • An emblematic animal of Mongolia , the experience would not be complete without having been "cavalier" for a day. Even if the horses provided by families are suitable for beginners, keep in mind that Mongolian horses are different from ours: they are much smaller, more robust, but also... More unpredictable! • A pre-payment is mandatory to guarantee the reservation. It can be done by bank transfer (for European bank accounts) or by an online platform (Wise). Find all information by clicking "Book". • For cancellation 3 months before the date of departure, the prepayment shall be refundable to the amount of 75% of the amount paid, the 25% remaining are retained for file fees.

Most European nationals (including France, Belgium and Switzerland) benefit from a 30 days visa waiver for any tourist stay in Mongolia. It is also possible to extend the duration of its visa by up to 30 days via the immigration website. Just a valid passport 6 months after the expected return date.

The International Airport Chinggis Khaan in Ulan Bator is the main front door. For adventurers, land access is possible but complicated via Russia, or China.

• Mongolia is a large plateau with a medium altitude relatively high (1,500m). West, be Ready. e for certain crossing points that will exceed 3,000 m and nights in bivouac at about 2,000m!
• Mal-Aigu des Montagnes: In the highest regions of the country, we must remain vigilant in the face of the Evil Aigu des Montagnes (MAM). Good hydration and listening to his body are essential even if the risks associated with point passages at 3,000m are very limited.
• Climate: Due to its remoteness from any sea (it is one of the most landlocked countries in the world) and its high average altitude, the country is experiencing temperature variations and quite radical weather conditions in different regions. For example in the gobi desert temperatures vary from +40° in summer to -40° in winter. DAns Altai however temperatures are not as extreme, in September attention however some episodes of cold can occur. A good insulating jacket and waterproof layer are recommended, as well as gloves and caps combined with good shoes.
• The land of the blue sky: Despite difficult conditions in winter, the country enjoys more than 250 days of sunshine / year!

The local currency is Tugrik Mongolia (MNT). It is easy to find ATMs in large and medium-sized cities.

• & Cash Cards: VISA and Mastercard cards are accepted in the shops of large cities, but the cash payments remain the majority in the countryside and in the valleys. Always plan a cash sum before going on a roadtrip or trek.

Mongolia has good internet coverage in cities and on major routes. However, in steppe, disconnection is often total and each operator gives more or less stable connections according to the regions! Here are the two best options:

• Fun fact: Here some locals do not hesitate to buy several sim cards in order to find the best network according to the region where they are. One less operation with an e-sim that includes access to different operators.

Some applications can be very useful for moving, paying or communicating with the premises. You are strongly advised to have offline navigation applications such as Mapsme or Osmand (don't forget to download the maps before you leave) if you plan to move by your own means, a translation application like google translation, as well as a dedicated currency conversion as Xe Converter.

• In autonomy: We're not gonna lie, being independent in Mongolia is not easy, but not impossible! Due to the long distances to be covered, the very limited road networks and the isolation of certain sites, it is only recommended to hire 4x4 passengers "experienced" on this type of environment.
For those arriving with their own vehicle, be ready! Mongolia is shaking and offering a unique road trip, especially from a navigation point of view, satellite maps will be your best friends.
• For small budgets:It is possible to travel by bus to the main cities of the country. An inexpensive option that we have often experienced and that works all year round. We regret that the Official website, do not allow to buy its tickets online for foreigners.
• For adventurers: it is possible to buy horses and travel the steppe with for a 100% local experience. If the level of engagement is not underestimated, there is no doubt that the adventure will be memorable.

Due to its topography, a stay in Mongolia is not to be taken lightly. If today infrastructure is modernising, access to many natural sites requires long hours trails through the mountains or hikes on steep trails, whether on foot or on horseback, away from potential relief.
